Training Industry Professionals in Tourism (TIP-iT)

Objective

Training Industry Professionals in Tourism (TIP-iT) is an incentive scheme which aims to support strategic companies in their manpower development through the acquisition and application of specialised skills or new capabilities. It offers companies that provide new or an enhanced range of tourism products incentives to acquire the corresponding skill sets, directly contributing to the overall development of the tourism landscape in Singapore.

There are two aspects of training that are covered within this scheme:

  1. Scheme A for Companies
    • Overseas training or locally-held training conducted by overseas trainers of Singaporeans and Permanent Residents to build strategic tourism-related skills. This can include attachments or certifiable and non-certifiable courses.

  2. Scheme B for Organisers
    • To develop local training programmes that are new or enable the company to ramp up on existing strategic tourism capabilities. This includes non-certifiable training like seminars, workshops or conferences.

Qualifying Criteria

To qualify, the company must meet the following requirements:
  • Must be an incorporated or registered in Singapore company.
  • Training is related to the building of strategic tourism-related skills.
  • Training programmes are new or enable the company to ramp up on existing strategic tourism capabilities.
The company must declare any other financial assistance given by the government (or other parties) in its application form.

Qualifying Costs

Scheme A for Companies: Ordinarily, the scope of support is UP TO 50% of the eligible expenses, unless otherwise specified. For applications received from 1 March 2009 to 28 February 2011, companies will enjoy enhanced funding support of UP TO 90% of allowable costs for certifiable training held overseas as well as for training conducted locally by overseas trainers. Overseas attachment or non-certifiable training held overseas will enjoy a higher grant. The enhanced scheme is known as TIP-iT Plus.

Scheme B for Organisers: The scope of support is UP TO 70% of the eligible expenses, unless otherwise specified.
