Role

We help groom local accommodation industry members to achieve world-class standards through refurbishment, upgrading and related initiatives. We also review regulatory controls and policies so as to provide a more pro-business operating environment for the industry. We also work closely with industry associations such as the Singapore Hotel Association (SHA) to champion the needs of the accommodation industry.

Key projects include -

  • Tourism Accommodation Masterplan
  • Tourism Development Assistance Scheme (TDAS) for initiatives such as TVRO Satellite System, Broadband
  • Hotel Refurbishment Programme
  • Hotel Safeguard Policy Review
  • Facilitation in the review of manpower/service standards of hotel industry staff
  • Facilitation in the review of streamlining guest registration practises at hotels
  • Facilitation in the review of streamlining hotel start-up process
  • Facilitation and development of hostels
  • Review of Serviced Apartments' contribution to Tourism Industry

 


Key incentive programmes

We administer incentives and grants through the Tourism Development Assistance Scheme (TDAS) for new concept development, marketing collateral development, and strategic projects such as TVRO Satellite, Broadband, Thermal Scanners. Please refer to the TDAS section for more details.
